Battleship Movie
Haven't seen it. More likely to wait for it on TV. But, from the previews... Is it just me or does it look like a new version of "Independance Day" only with Iowa Class ships instead of F-18s? Current Mood: curious | | Sunday, May 20th, 2012 | | 11:12 am |
[MLP] I really admire Cadence's Character Design
The My Little Pony Crew came up with an Excellent character design for her face. It's Extremely expressive, both as Cadence and as the Evil Changling Queen. They've got some really effective evil expressions on her face. I'm going to have to remember this when Maris shows up again. Scott Current Mood: working | | Wednesday, May 16th, 2012 | | 5:17 am |
Rumors
Rumor is we may be going to a 60+ hour work week in my department. 12 hour shifts for 5 days plus (we hope) volunteer 12 hour shifts on Saturdays. 50+ hour weeks are really tiring. I'm tired. Current Mood: tired | | Friday, May 4th, 2012 | | 5:22 am |

Why I'm not keeping up with the internet
Lately, I've been working 10-12 hour days (with a 1 hour commute added to that.) In addition, I had to resign from a discussion group that we both really enjoyed because one member persisted in making demeaning and personal comments to Kathy. I'm trying to do damage control to the good, decent intelligent people there I still count upon as friends. Our neighbors have renewed a feud over the right of way that allows us onto our property. We're under pressure to take one side in this argument, which goes against the neighbors we're friends with. This pressure is coming from someone I do not trust, and have been warned against by multiple people, including her own son. She's been nice to us, but that, we've been warned is her modus operandi. I do not have direct evidence, but I suspect she may be subject to paranoid delusions. If she decides we're against her, she may be calling the police on us, as she did against our neighbors. The first time I introduced myself to this woman, she was talking about calling lawyers. This is a potentially dangerous situation legally, and if she really is delusional, it's potentially dangerous safety wise. I'm also attempting to do damage control in Live Journal. The combined stress of all of the above is why there was filler instead of Monday's strip. If you feel neglected. It's not just you. Current Mood: busy | | Thursday, April 26th, 2012 | | 5:08 am |
Driver's License Red Tape
My address is out of date on my driver's license. Why do I have to present my BIRTH CERTIFICATE and Original Social Security Card to the DMV to correct that? Current Mood: annoyed | | Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 | | 7:14 pm |

RIP Thomas Kinkade
I was saddened to see the news this morning that Thomas Kinkade has died. But, the reaction of the "Art World" to his death seems to be horrifying. "Real Artists" or those who claim to be seem to just want to dance on his grave. Jealousy I guess. It's all so very sad. Current Mood: sad | | Sunday, April 1st, 2012 | | 12:06 pm |

THEM!
It's kind of intimidating to watch the final ant attack in "THEM!" when your house is surrounded by spring peepers all chirping madly. http://youtu.be/twyFJbnGNX4 Current Mood: Creepy...! | | Sunday, March 18th, 2012 | | 9:28 am |

Haiku
I don't like Haiku. So, even perfect Haiku I will still find dumb. Current Mood: tired | | Monday, March 5th, 2012 | | 6:58 pm |

Giant Dragonflies & Global Warming
I woke up this morning... I was thinkin 'bout giant dragonflies. I woke up this morning... I've often wondered how giant dragonflies could breathe. All insects have inefficent lungs and circulatory systems that inhibit how large they can grow. Yet, dragonflies once existed that had 2.5 foot wingspans. I recently saw a program that suggested that the atmosphere was a lot thicker, prior to the Chicxulub impact 65 million years ago, and the impact blew enough of our atmosphere into outer space. If so, it would explain how the giant Meganeura Dragonflies could breathe. Denser atmosphere, easier to fly, and easier to diffuse oxygen through their systems. But, if the atmosphere was denser than it is today, the question is, how much denser was it, and what sort of effect would that have on the climate of the globe? Higher pressures means water boils at higher temperatures, less evaporation, and so, less clouds and rainfall. Less clouds = less energy reflected back into space. Higher pressure = more insulation = more energy trapped at the surface. Less water vapor in the atmosphere = less greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. If the Earth did go through a dramatic change in air pressure, and yet, still had a habitable climate, it would indicate quite a large plateau of stability to our ecosystems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meganeura Current Mood: thoughtful |
